The curtain fell on the 22nd Future Film Festival. The edition that has come to an end had extended in space and time like never before. The special formula of this internationally renowned festival is now solid. Its most interesting legacy is it can open up a parallel dimension in which artistic production, culture, various institutions, and professionals meet and work together.
A spirit that the organisers – Doc Servizi and Rete Doc, in collaboration with the Associazione Amici del Future Film Festival – are determined to carry on as they are already working on the 2023 edition.
The Future Film Festival is not just an event, but a long and rich itinerary that started in May and gradually extended between Bologna, Modena, Ferrara and Venice, culminating at the end of September and the beginning of October. A total of about 100 appointments, which attracted an audience of over 5.000 visitors, not considering the online programming. 80 gamers took part in the Future Videogames Hackathon.
The numbers of its social media activity, steadily increasing from June to October, are important as well: the festival’s Facebook page had more than half a million views, Instagram about 75.000, and Twitter about one million.
The festival itself lasted eight days, with 72 films in and out of competition from all over the world, and the participation of more than 60 guests and speakers.
Around 100 people worked on the Festival in various capacities, taking care of the organisation and management of the events. There were 38 partners (institutions, associations, sponsors, cultural spaces), 16 media partners (local and national), and an important charity partner: the Ramazzini Institute, symbolising the Festival’s commitment to research, prevention, and the right to health.
