Inu-oh

The story is about a young boy, Inu-Oh, born with very strange physical features. The adults, shocked, cover up his body in clothing and hide his face behind a mask. One day Inu-Oh meets Tomona, a blind biwa player. As he starts playing a song, Inu-Oh discovers that he is very good at dancing. The two become friends and inseparable partners. They use their talent to survive on the fringes of society, but song after song they become more and more famous. Through public performances, Inu-Oh slowly transforms into a being of incredible beauty. The film by Masaaki Yuasa (Mindgame, Devilman Crybaby) completely captivates the viewers, making them feel like they are at the cinema and at a rock concert at the same time. “Even as Yuasa's approach changes from chapter to chapter - playing with textures, volume and colour - gently shifting from a figurative to an abstract style, his extraordinary touch remains recognisable in its mind-blowing swirl."
