Misaki no Mayoiga

Friday 23 September 2022 and Saturday 24 September 2022 In competition by Sachiko Kashiwaba (Japan, 2021) 100' V.O. with Italian subtitles The story revolves around a traditional Japanese house called "Mayoiga" (the ancient name of an abandoned, yet well-kept house) from where one can see the sea, and feel the warmth of spring. A 17-year-old girl named Yui begins her new life here. The film, based on the short story by Sachiko Kashiwaba, is set in Iwate Prefecture and is brought to cinemas as part of an initiative to commemorate the 10 years that have passed since a devastating earthquake and the following tsunami struck the Tōhoku region.
