My father’s secrets

Wednesday 21 September 2022 and Thursday 22 September 2022 In competition by Véra Belmont (France, Belgium, 2021) 73' V.O. with Italian subtitles An important film that focuses on a family's journey towards reconciliation after dealing with the trauma caused by the Holocaust and Auschwitz. My Father's Secrets is based on the autobiographical story by renowned Israeli author and cartoonist Michel Kichka. In his twenties, Michel's father returns to his native Belgium, where he gets married and has four children: two boys and two girls. In the course of the story, Michel and the other family members have to discover and understand the problems his father had to face during his childhood, while still trying to grow up to be strong and independent. This intimate and strong story of survivors and their strength is told in a touching and unique way, that only animation makes possible. The character of Henri Kichka is dubbed in English by the voice of the legendary Elliott Gould (seen in Ocean's Eleven - Do Your Own Thing, Nashville, American History X, etc). The lead producer of the film is Marc Jousset, former art director of PERSEPOLIS.
