Thursday 22 September 2022 Retrofuturo - INSERT COIN #3 Welcome drink Meeting curated by Francesco Spampinato (piano b, University of Bologna) with the participation of Giovanotti Mondani Meccanici (Antonio Glessi, Andrea Zingoni); Paola Lagonigro (art historian, Sovrintendenza Capitolina); Leo Lecci (University of Genoa); Adriano Abbado (artist). Experts, curators and artists try to find together new keys to understanding the audiovisual experimentations of the 1980s’ Italy with computers or references to computerized and futuristic imagery. The meeting accompanies the exhibition of the same name, presented as part of this edition of the Future Film Festival, including videos by artists and designers, videography for television, dysfunctional videogames and videoclips made for pop music or theatre. It is an unclassifiable audiovisual corpus, until now attributed to video art, or computer art, or media; of great interest today as it provides us with the first reflections on the subliminal power of attraction of the electronic image, a new type of image that started multiplying precisely in those years and is now naturalized in our media ecosystem. The meeting and the review are curated by Francesco Spampinato, lecturer at the Department of Arts of the University of Bologna and editor of an issue of the academic journal piano b entitled "The computer in visual arts and visual culture in Italy in the information age".
