As we are waiting for its 22nd edition to start, the Future Film Festival is bringing its audience to Retrofuturo-like scenes outside cinema halls. On Sunday 3 July from 5 pm, the festival will play a major part in the event “Atelier Kinotto – Wake Me Art“, an open-air gallery organized by Taldeg, Locomotiv Club and Kinotto Bar, inside the Parco del DopoLavoroFerroviario in Bologna.
While the objective of the event is to promote young artists and artisans by offering them an exhibition space, the event is aimed at all citizens who wish to dive in a programme full of new ideas and angles, including Retrofuture, the theme that will be at the heart of the next edition of the Future Film Festival.
The event will kick off with a talk (6-8 pm) about the role of women in the creative industry. One of the speakers will be Eva Benfenati, product manager and key figure of the Future Film Festival.
The day will end with the contest “Future Film Festival Splash Edition – Draw The Future” (9:00 pm – 10:30 pm), an event open to the exhibiting artists, artisans and the students of the Accademia di Bella Arti of Bologna. Their task is to interpret the topic through different techniques and styles. While they are working, a techno/retrowave dj set will play, to make the experience even more immersive.
The goal of this call is to ask the artists to give an interpretation of what Retrofuture, a central topic of science fiction in cinema, is for them. The most original and creative works will be rewarded: the best 10 of them, chosen by a jury made up of a technical committee, the audience and other artists who are not participating in the contest, will be exhibited during the next Future Film Festival, in collaboration with Taldeg.
The festival thus reconfirms its special bond with the art world: since 1999, it has commissioned an original piece of work from a different artist every year. The whole collection will be exhibited this year during the emerging Contemporary Art Show called BOOMing.
During the event, from 5 pm there will be workshops open to those who want to experiment different artistic techniques and crafts.
